June 2009

We had a cool start to our summer vacation. Samantha's swimming lessons were cancelled for the first two weeks and we only made it to the pool twice before leaving town. Samantha attended summer orchestra classes for a couple weeks learning how to play the violin. Her teacher was really impressed by her progress. Samantha really likes her quarter-size violin.
McKenzie went to a four day babysitting clinic and now is officially certified as a babysitter. Now that McKenzie is 12, she gets to exercise at the gym with me (instead of going to the child care center - which she really felt too old for). I took Samantha to the orthodontist and she will soon be getting an appliance in her mouth to expand her upper jaw, then braces to fix her underbite. McKenzie will be getting braces soon as well.

We left on the 23rd of June for Utah. While there we went to the State Capitol building, a Pioneer Museum, Syracuse Heritage Days, toured inside the new Oquirrh Mountain temple, walked to the movie theater to see UP, saw some friends from high school, went to temple square, went bowling, rode the Frontrunner and Trax trains, played with cousins, played in the Gateway fountain, and played lots at Grandpa & Grandma’s.
