Our new pet

Kevin woke me up early Thursday morning (in the 5 o'clock hour) to see a snapping turtle laying eggs in our front flowerbed. She was quite determined to be left alone and snapped at Kevin when he tried to move her. She was pretty big, her shell was probably 9 inches by 11 inches. (Kevin thinks she was much bigger.) By the time the kids woke up she had gone back to the pond. Perhaps, if the nest remains untouched, we will get to see baby turtles hatch in September.

This one made a nest right outside Girl 2's window in a perfectly safe spot.

This one (and several of his friends) has his home in the backyard.
